Goldly Orange, Books, and Re-Booting

You know what I like about books?  They don’t have to be re-booted.  You can just pick them up and start reading.  I appreciate that kind of efficient simplicity.  And why do I appreciate that today?  I am typing this blog on my laptop without having contact with the Internet.  No, I don’t know how either.

I tried to fix the problem by re-booting.  Nope.  Didn’t do it this time.  My guess is that I won’t be able to post it until the Connection Gods say I can.

Ironically, while the computer was re-booting, I was playing a game of Ruzzle on my Ipad.  All while sitting in the same recliner.  I believe in comfort if I am going to be frustrated.

How lucky am I to have both?  Yes, I am, although I had to get cancer again to get the Ipad.  It wasn’t as bad as that sounds!  That sounds , as my daughter says, like I played the cancer card!  I didn’t really.  I just had a lot of downtime for healing and was in need of something lighter and more transportable than the laptop. Jes was home and it was actually her idea for Lance to get me an Ipad.

And it helped.  I played countless games of Ruzzle and Words With Friends, did jigsaw puzzles, watched Netflix movies and tv shows, took pictures, laughed at Facebook posts, followed recipes, and wrote and received emails from bed, the living room, the kitchen, the chemo unit, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, West Fargo, and Nova Scotia.

And now it’s getting the Internet when the laptop just inches away is not.

Why, I do not know.  I do not know the why. The sky, which is so high, won’t tell.  Oh my!   Thanks, Dr. Seuss. And George Takei.

THERE IS NO TRANSITION HERE——-DANGER——-NO TRANSITION HERE——DANGER———

We had, or rather, Lance had the pizza last night because the soup I was planning to make would have taken too long and I was tired from running errands.

Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Soup!  Because it’s not enough that the leaves are golden and orange and goldly orange, I need to eat that color as well!  So when the recipe ran across Facebook, I took a snapshot of it, and today I made it.   It’s  just finishing the cooking and then I’ll let it cool. Why?  Because it has to be poured in the blender and I have burned myself  doing that with a soup right off the stove.  Also, when blending hot things, you have to watch out for the steam coming out  when you lift the top off the blender.  Since it is only four, I have time to let it cool.

SORT OF A TRANSITION HERE———–

The reference to the lovely fall colors reminds me of a post by Mary Engelbreit.  She was showing pictures of her living room which is done in a softly golden orange glow. It was lovely, open, and restful.  But the thing that really caught my attention was her bookshelf.  She had shelved all her books with the binding inside next to the back of the book case.  All that was showing were the buff colored edges of the pages, which, of course, supported the monochromatic golden theme of her room. She said that the bindings of the books jumped out in busy-ness and disrupted the room.  They were all her childhood books and she wanted to keep them, so she just flipped them around to fit in with the serenity of the room.

If that isn’t creative thinking, I don’t know what is.

Have a Terrific Tuesday Evening!

Love,

Janet
