ARG!!! BE SURE AND BRUSH YER TEETH AFTER EATIN’ YER CANDY ELSE YOU’LL LOOK LIKE THIS!!!
I heard my first Christmas music of the season!!!!! Too early! Too early!! Too early!! It was in the background of a radio commercial for fake Balsam trees. Somehow that made it worse.
Well, tomorrow is Election Day. When I was teaching I would use this as a lesson on appreciation of the greatness of our country. We don’t often think about this; in fact I think we take it for granted. We go to vote and we just assume that there will be a peaceful transition of power in January. Take a minute and think about all the countries for whom this is not happening. A peaceful transition of power.
Even with all the negative political ads, and the partisan division that seems to stall Congress in its tracks, there will be a peaceful transition of power come January.
And women, appreciate your opportunity to vote. Until I taught American history, I didn’t realize the physical beatings that some suffragettes underwent when jailed for protesting or marching for the women’s vote. I know for a fact that it wasn’t in the American History I studied in 11th grade.
We are a great country, but we still have a ways to go to be the best we can be.
And on a worldly note, did you know that J.K.Rowling used her initials rather than identify as a woman to increase her chances of publishing her high fantasy? Yep. Our lifetimes.
Still plenty to do.
WARNING…….WARNING……..ABSOLUTELY NO TRANSITION HERE…………
Fun Food Facts: What is the fruit with the most protein? avocado
Did you know that cruciferous veggies are called that because they have leaves that CROSS over each other like the cross(crucify).
Did you know that 6 almonds can be a snack that will deter your hunger?
And the most amazing of all: I had NO Halloween candy this year. For a sugar-holic, this is unheard of. And yet it happened.
Time to eat dinner.
Love y’all,
Janet
