Really Slow Dial Up, Ginger Cat Cookies and Another Co-inky-dink!

Hiya Folks!

Been a little busy lately with out of town company; time on my own to think has been at a premium.  Goodness knows I need to think to be able to write to you, so that’s my excuse.  And I’m sticking to it!

It doesn’t mean, however, that I haven’t been gathering things to tell you.  I found a little notebook that I can fit into my itty bitty purse. (More on that later…)  And, in this little notebook I have been jotting down ideas as they come to me, so I have PLENTY to tell you today.

First of all, I received a phone call from Nova Scotia on Friday last. The lovely French voice identified herself as from one of the B & B’s we stayed at last September. Ahhh, I thought.  This is a “How did we do?” call to see if they could have improved their service to us in any way.

Nope.

” We just received your email about staying at our B & B. would you be coming this next September?” asked the lovely French voice.

“Ummmm…no… we stayed with you this last September… and we had a wonderful time!

Confusion and silence from the lovely French voice.

” I sent that email in late July.”  I said as gently as I could.

“Oh.  OH!  Well, we just received it today.”

Not knowing how to respond to that, I said nothing at first, then repeated that we had had a wonderful time and that the B & B was beautiful.

” So, you were already here last September.”

“Yes.”

“Well, thank you very much.  Sorry about the phone call.  Good bye.” said the lovely and now embarrassed French voice.

Now, I’ve heard that dial up is slow, but over three months?????  Wowza.

The next bit of news is

SHOPPER’S ADVICE…….SHOPPER’S ADVICE………..SHOPPER’S ADVICE…………

I have found a tiny ginger cookie at Trader Joe’s that is crisp without being too hard to bite, and gingery good.  They’re called Ginger Cats and they come in tubs.  I believe there are Ginger Dog cookies, too, but how could I bring such a thing home when I actually HAVE a ginger cat?!   And, no, these aren’t treats for cats and dogs, as my kids first asked!

I also found, thanks to my dietician’s suggestion, that there is such a thing as coconut yogurt.  I am lactose intolerant and love the smooth yogurty consistency, but have trouble finding that consistency in things that I can consume.  Pudding is definitely out, and I have yet to find lactose free yogurt.   But this Vanilla Cultured Coconut Milk —-“yogurt” is not on the label—- does the trick.  I think there’s blueberry, too, but I wanted to try the vanilla first.  You have to look hard for it, though, so bring your detective’s  magnifying glass, your deerstalker hat and  anybody named Watson and head to Trader Joe’s!

Be careful if you are, as I am, a yogurt top licker.  I got a paper cut on my tongue!

And last, the co-inky-dink, or coincidence.  Remember, I have written about the weird coincidences that have happened lately?
Well, I’ve got another one.

We were in Kramarczk’s  on Friday. Wonderful food there in a cafeteria line.  They had Butternut Squash Soup, so, of course, I had that.  YUM!  And, you know very well who did NOT have any of that soup, too, don’t you? For all you newbies, read the unnamed post just before If The Broom Fits, Ride It!

We also planned a trip next door to the Baltic Imports store to look at the amber items (this is important…remember this) since the store will be closing in December.  As luck would have it, we found some items, and bought them.   Then, we wandered back into Kramarczk’s to buy some delicious sausage to take home.  And, as I was waiting for the others to make their decisions, I got a wrong number call.

How many wrong number calls do you get on your cell??  I get maybe one a year, if that.

But it wasn’t the wrong number that was strange.

It was that the person wanted to talk to Amber Peterson or Johnson or Something.

I really wasn’t listening after he said “Amber.”

Seriously,  HWIT????!!! (Newbies, check post of this name)

And he called twice!!

Shivers up your spine?  You’re welcome.

Well, that’s the news for tonight/today/ Saturday and Friday.  I hear we’re to get some snow.  I’m good with that. I grew up here.

Bring it.

Love,

Janet
