Another Coincidence and A Darn Good Joke

Hello Folks!

I hope you had a happy holiday yesterday.  Hope the Tryptophan kicked in after the kitchen was cleaned up.  And I hope you have enough leftovers to make what you want.  (I have a really good recipe for a pannini with turkey, dressing, gravy and cranberries that  I’ll share later)

Neither the hubster nor I are big on big groups of people.  Sometimes the two of us is a crowd.  So it wasn’t surprising last night to find us in opposite parts of the house doing our own thing after the Thanksgiving crowd of three left.

I was upstairs, knitting and listening to a comedy radio station out of Denver.   Buffy, the Destroyer, was keeping me company.  The hubster was downstairs, working on the computer.  Everybody happy and full.

Oh, and I was drinking wine.

Really, really happy and full.

I heard Larrry the Cable Guy do a short part of one of his routines and it made me laugh, so I thought I’d share it here.  He was in Wal-Mart, pushing a cart down a row when he hit something.  It was a short person, or, as he called him, a midget.

“Oh, my goodness, are you okay?”

” I’m … not…  happy. ”

“Well, which one are yah, then?”

Hahahahahahahahaha!  That just tickled my funnybone!

I had another weird coincidence —HWIT, or, for you newbies, How Weird Is That?

I was working a Ruzzle puzzle when the word tulle came to mind. I had the letters t-u-l-e  but there was no second “l.”  As is my wont, I put it in anyway, because there are words I learn by chance this way. And it worked!  Since you can use a word without having to know its meaning, I used it and went on my merry way.  It is, after all, a timed game!

Lo and behold, I decide to read before bed that night.  I have a tendency to stay up late and flip my nights and days and I had been trying so hard to keep on schedule by not reading before bed lately.  I think it was because it wasn’t putting me to sleep.  Instead, I was staying up after 1 and 2 in the am.

Even though I hadn’t been reading before bed, I still had several books going at one time. That night I chose to start a new one recommended by my reading guru/massage therapist, Terri.

And on page six, I read,  ” There was a tule fog off the fields and I was wrapped inside it, pedaling through clouds.  Tule fogs are not like any other fogs, not spotty or drifting, but fixed and substantial.  Probably anyone would have felt the risk of moving quickly through an unseen world, but I have — or had as a child — a particular penchant for slapstick and mishap, so I took the full thrill from it.  I felt polished by the wet air …”

Can’t you just feel that soft dampness?  I am liking this book, Terri!

Anyway, the familiar chills went up and down my spine as I read that word that I didn’t even know was a word twelve hours earlier: tule.

That was Wednesday night. And here’s the kicker: today, my daughter calls me to tell me of her successful trip to JoAnn’s.   Along with her other fabric acquisitions,  she has purchased  three colors of tulle for making a tutu for a certain three year old.

HWIT!!!!!!

Tomorrow I’ll tell you about the trip that wasn’t yet somehow  we ended up in the parking snarl at Rosedale’s Best Buy on Black Friday.

Hugs to you all.  My cold is leaving the building and so is a significant amount of gunk!!!!
