Oh boy. She’s doing it again. Swinging from the dining room chandelier.
And it’s not because I accidentally kicked her when I awoke the other day. How do I know this for certain? Any cat that consistently puts her head underneath the faucet as she peers up into the hole as I’m turning it on is not capable of remembering a slight kick from a few days ago.
I attribute her return to the chandelier action to the lack of porch time where she can be in the fresh air stalking birds and squirrels.
And it’s not because I didn’t set the timer when she was out there and forgot she was there. See paragraph two.
Another reason for the Tarzan behavior is not to get from here to there. We are talking about swinging in a wide arc, returning to the starting point. So, unlike Tarzan, she’s not using it for transport.
I think she’s doing it like a toddler/preschooler/young elementary student would: for attention when Mom is on the phone. Or when Mom and Dad are talking to each other.
And. Not. Paying. Attention. To. The. Cat.
I remember this from last fall and winter. I kept thinking that we should get another cat to keep her company. But after seeing her reaction to other animals that have visited, I’m thinking maybe not.
Besides, I could end up with another Buffy.
I would love to have a lap cat, though. Buffy is not a lap cat. Oh, she’ll come over to me and stand on my chest for a minute or so, then launch herself onto the floor. She comes for a snuggle and stays for a minute or two, then leaves. None of these are comfortable for me. They must not be comfortable to her, either, or she would stay longer.
Maybe I do need another cat…
Have a Mahvelous Monday!
