Not to worry! The title refers to sewing, not kitten care.
As I was struggling with sewing one cotton picking seam yesterday, I tried several options, including sewing it in reverse. Then, I finally looked closer, discovered the problem and knew the solution was to rip out another seam and re-sew it in order for the second seam to fit. And that’s when the phrase popped into my head.
Yesterday and Saturday were big sewing days. I was glad that I had also sewn on Wednesday and Thursday. I still worked until 9 pm last night, but that was due to that one seam and cutting from scraps.
But, Janet, aren’t you supposed to cut from scraps in quilting? Why, yes, yes you are. But I was running out of one color of fabric and I had bought all the fat quarters the store had and there was no bolt of the cloth left on the shelf.
So, whether or not I did this intentionally or subconsciously, I listened to the soundtrack from Brave and let my inner Scotswoman drive my thrifty fabric trimming. It worked, too, because I had enough left over to re-make the two blocks that I discovered this am are too short.
Yep. I was proofing the blocks to 9 1/2 inch squares this morning before class, and two of the blocks were too short to be able to fix in any manner known to the quilting world. These were blocks I made in the beginning of the class when I was still struggling to sew a 1/4 inch seam accurately. I will need to re-make them.
This week’s homework will be to finish the two blocks we started in class, make two more of those and then re-make the two too short blocks.
I may have to call in sick to volunteering!
Kidding.
+++++++Katya News and Mews++++++
It has been so wonderful to be able to stop by Katya’s room, open up the door and give her a hug without having to change clothes! She likes to keep me company in the sewing room, too. Until she is declawed, she is allowed in very few places due to the beautiful cabinet doors that Lance made a few years ago and, or course, the leather furniture in the living room.
She and Buffy are getting acquainted through the door that Lance modified.
Here are Katya and Buffy calmly sitting and looking at each other.
Here not so much.
Notice Ninja Katya in the background.
The ninja springs!
Peace.
I clipped Katya’s sharp little kitten nails yesterday so Buffy’s not at such a disadvantage. Last night Buffy jumped over the barrier to the sewing room and the two confronted each other. nothing happened; I think it scared both of them.
More pics of Katya to come. She’s so busy exploring that most of the time she’s a blur!!
Have a Tremendous Tuesday!!!
Love,
Janet

I’m so glad that your two charges can finally get their relationship started. (I can hardly wait to hear what Buffy teaches Katya.)
