Hiya!
I don’t know whether it’s because it’s hot and humid, or if it’s because I’m drinking wine, or because I’m sticking to the furniture, but I’m in a contrary mood today.
And it’s specifically gender related.
Even more specifically, why do guys get to walk around without a shirt and we don’t? Not only that, we have to wear a bra as well, which in this hot stickiness just adds insult to injury in my book.
So I am rebelling and not wearing a shirt. Just so you know, I am the only one in the house right now and I do modestly cross my arms when I go out on the back porch.
But it seems to be even more of a problem because there is more skin to get stuck to the furniture!!! And when I need to type, moving my arms is a necessity, especially when the keyboard skips up a few lines and starts typing wherever it wants! Then, I have to find where it put the last words, erase them and retype them where they need to be, unsticking my arms as I go.
I would like to be able to walk outside without a shirt. I remember going without the top of a two piece swimsuit on a beach in Jamaica. It was so freeing. and then I spotted a guy about 50 yards down the beach with a telephoto lens taking a picture. Creep. Should have flipped him off.
But I was too nice then. Oh what we learn as we go through life! I would so flip him off today. In fact, I just did, and it felt good.
Oh, and another contrary thing I just did was to make up a plate of appetizers and eat part of them for lunch. I made that cream cheese, cocktail sauce and shrimp thing instead of saving it in case I needed it for any unannounced guests. That leaves me with half a bottle of cocktail shrimp and a can of tiny shrimp. Hmmmm. If any of you are planning on coming over, bring your own cream cheese, will you?

I went to the Coon Rapids fireworks last night and they were wonderful! Kudos to the city! I especially the ones I thought were new, although, since I haven’t seen a big fireworks display for a while, these may not be new to the rest of you.
I liked the pink , peach and rust ones. I hadn’t see those colors before. I remember the white waterfall ones and I still like those. Then, there were some extremely bright ones that reminded me of LED lights; they stood out from the crowd. The white swirly ones were pretty, but may not have been new. And last were the ones that had different structure to them. They would start out as a starburst and then a square would shoot out. And sometimes, that square would be at an angle! Twice there were angled ones that became smiley faces and once there was an ominous one that resembled an alien face. All in all, a wonderful display that put a smile on my face for the whole time. There’s something about watching fireworks that makes you a kid again.
Well, have a serene Sunday and enjoy the rest of your week!
Love,
Janet
Amen to feeling free without clothes! bummer that we women don’t have the freedom men do. The best times I had swimming were at an indoor public pool in Oslo. It was women only 2 evenings a week and men only 2 evenings a week. We never wore suits cause we were all women. Getting out of the pool and nipping into the sauna and then back to the pool was so much easier without cumbersome wet suits. Carry on, Janet! Love your writing!
