Absolutely No Political News Here

Hello Friends!

Greetings to you from a VERY clean house on this National No Housework Day.  How did I manage it, you ask? Good question.

I didn’t.

We finally have someone to clean the house other than me, myself and I, all three of whom can’t properly wrangle a vacuum cleaner without further damaging the swollen arm and hand.

YAY!

And the house smells and looks so good after the teams’ initial clean today.  It was like Spring Cleaning without doing the windows. That’ll come later.

Besides, who would wash their windows on such a cold wet day anyway?  The best part of window cleaning is having the windows open on a warm sunny day. Well, maybe the second best part. The best part is looking through the windows after they’re cleaned and realizing that your neighbors haven’t repainted their house and re-landscaped in fuzzy impressionist colors. It was just that your windows really needed to be cleaned.

Of course, then, because the glass is so clean, the birds at the bird feeders think they can fly right into the living room and sit with me. While I would enjoy their songs, the cats would go crazy trying to catch them. It’s bad enough when they wonk right into the glass.

Must give them a terrible headache.

Where was I?  Oh, yes. The house is picked up and cleaned and the windows can wait for a nicer day.

+++++++No transition++++++++

It’s time for me to pass on what I heard in the airport a few months ago.  If I’ve told you already, bear with me, it’s a goodie.

“The plane isn’t late, but it will be  at the later end of on time.”

I chuckled when I heard it. Hope you did, too.

++++++Not here either+++++++++++++

Sometimes I wonder just where my mind is. On Monday my friend and I drove over to the Science Museum to see the Mummies exhibit. We drove all the way over there and down to the parking ramp before we realized that the Science Museum is not open on Monday. Hunh.  Oh yeah, that’s right, I remember now.

Then as I was trying to print a recipe yesterday, I called the hubster over for help on solving why I couldn’t get the printer to engage.

Yep. You guessed it. It wasn’t plugged in.

Sigh.

+++++++Why are you looking?+++++++

Co-Inky-Dink Alert    While playing Small Change last Friday night, I gave “Ain’t Misbehavin'” as an answer. It was incorrect, but there was a little discussion around it.

The next day it was one of two jazz songs listed in a word puzzle.                             How Weird Is That?       (HWIT—other wise known as Hay-wit)

++++++++zzzzzzz+++++++++++

And last but not least, while picking up for the cleaners, I returned the birth year pennies to my dad’s desk drawer. He collected pennies, storing them in paper sleeves in his desk drawer. The paper sleeve has his distinctive writing on it; makes me smile when I see it.

Anyway, when we divvied up the furniture, I got his desk and I’ve been keeping it in my kitchen. The old clock shaped like a ship’s steering wheel sits there still. It no longer works, but it’s set for the time that school would start.

Years ago I cleaned it out and put my supplies in it, making it mine. But there are still somethings of his that are still there: a ref’s whistle from his basketball days, a chewed up red pencil from his correcting days, and now the birth year pennies that he collected for me. It seemed right to return them to a drawer in his desk.

Well that’s all the news that’s new. And some of the news that’s old.

Have a Funkadelic Friday—I know I am planning to!

Love,

Janet

  1. Hey, it’s great to hear from you! No hay-wits or coinky-dinks, but I do have a question for you. That wonderful bread that you brought over on Easter: is it only available at Great Harvest Bakeries, or does somebody else have it? I know there’s one on Snelling and Selby, so it’s not that far . . . but it was so good, and I have such a craving for it again . . . I’ll go wherever I have to go to get some more. Enjoy the clean house. And remember, the day will come again when we can have our windows open! Love you!
