Greetings Good People!
I know I only wrote last night, but so much happened at the lake this morning that I just had to write.
Oh, I wish I had taken a picture of Titan. He tips the scales at 107 pounds and at 20 months, his owners are praying every night that his growth spurt is done. He is a gentle giant, an Alaskan Malamute bred in Pennsylvania. His owners drove out to pick him up and said he was worth every penny. Shedding all over the house right now, he also attends doggy daycare where he is the calming influence among all sizes of the socializing canines.
It was no problem seeing him coming down the path with his diminutive lady. When she saw me smile at them, she said, “He’s friendly.”
Well, that’s all I needed! I stood still and let him come over to check me out. His version of checking me out was to come over to be petted! There was no sniffing of body parts or undue energetic antics that might knock me over. And his fur was thick and warm.
And as his lady and I talked there on the path, there was no pulling on the leash to remind her to get going. It was a lovely interlude.
Except for the woman who strode up the hill and 15 feet from the path to get around us.
I called out that he was friendly to put her at ease.
She fired back, “Maybe I’m not.”
Titan’s lady commented, also in defense of the dog’s good behavior, and the lady threw back, ” Why would I want to see your f*****g dog??!”
A few more exchanges happened between the dog’s lady and the walker who continued her stalking after returning to the path twenty feet away, none of them upbeat.
It was sad. She was in a bad place, hurting or angry before she came upon us. and there was nothing we could do to help.
I looked for her later around the lake, but didn’t find her. I’m not quite sure what I would have said anyway. But I will send her some good thoughts and a mind hug.
***************

Here are today’s three gosling sets swimming in clumps.
And here they are proudly swimming in straight lines.
Of course, they were up on the sidewalk first.
Here is the duck pair that kept losing the bread bits being thrown by the little kids, not to the seagulls, but to the fish!!! I had not known fish to be so interested in carbs! Those poor ducks didn’t have a chance. The bread would disappear from the surface before they could even swim over there. Sorry, ducks, but it made me laugh.
I am easily amused.
Well, enjoy the rest of your Tuesday! I know I will.
Love,
Janet
