Greetings Friends!
It’s one of those days where I don’t know whether I should water the hanging baskets or wait for the rain.
Statistically it’s a wash.
Literally.
So, I guess I’ll write you a letter instead.
That’s what these blog posts are, you know. Letters.
Longhand letters can be physically arduous to write with the glove. Holding the pen, making my cursive look like it would BG. (before glove)
Besides, I can erase much easier with the keyboard, because I often change my mind. Seriously!
So, I write these letters to you, telling you what’s been on my mind lately.
First up is the title. I had a one kick towel yesterday. I have a straight shot down the stairs from the second level. I often make use of that design feature to throw, kick, toss, and otherwise propel dirty clothes to the next level that is closer to the laundry room. That gets them to the main level landing near the front door.
I then pick them up, carry them to the kitchen and throw the items down to the basement level, trying hard not to catch the edge on a wine bottle or two that may be sitting on the ledge.
From there I carry them to the laundry room to separate into loads , then wash.
Now, you need to know that this is not all accomplished at the same time. It is very much when I get to it.
Also, it’s big things like the sheets or a towel that get kicked from the upper level to the middle level. Or, it’s small things that I can throw into the evening’s warm and handwash load that includes the glove and sleeve.
(I hate to have just the glove and sleeve for a load. I know it needs to be done, but it seems so wasteful to me. Probably because it is. But the glove and sleeve in order to retain their elasticity and compression need to be washed every day.)
For the things that aren’t in the daily load or a heavy load, I have a basket that I bump, bump, bump down the stairs behind me, reminding me of some story where the teddy bear gets bump, bump, bumped down the stairs. Was it silly old Pooh?
Anyway, there are times that I kick the item from upper to middle levels hoping that it’ll make it in one flying leap instead of halfway, necessitating another well placed nudge as I go down the stairs.
The other day, the dry but used towel and washcloth melded together, soaring down the stairs in a triumphant arc.
It was glorious!
It was efficient!
It made my whole day!
It’s the little things, you know.
Just wanted you to share in my one kick towel success.
*****nope, no transition here*****
Here’s a co-inky-dink for you. I received a national parks quarter in change the other day. When I got home, I checked it out to see if I had Shenandoah in both P and D.
(from the Philadelphia and Denver mints)
I had D but not P. This one was a D, so I wasn’t able to put it into my book.
BUT, while I was checking it, what should start playing on public radio but the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing, “Shenandoah.”
WOW.
What are the chances?
*** nope. not here, either*********
You all know that I love wordplay. So, I thought I’d send you some wordplays that made me laugh.
First up is “tink.” This is the process of undoing knitting, stitch by stitch. It is also “knit” spelled backwards!
And, just like ripping out sewn stitches in sewing, I do a lot of tinking!!!
The next part are the clever crossword clues I have run across.
Top secret……..wig
First person……..ump
Tired part…..wheel
Last word of “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” ( I had to go through the whole song, did you?) …….again
Pair in Rummy……ems
Cueball’s lack…..hair
Conditions…..ifs
Did a service, say………wed
and, my favorite, Standard time……Flag Day
Have a pleasant weekend. Hug the ones you love. Smile, it makes people wonder what you’re up to!
Love,
Janet
