Good Morning Friends!!
I found a heart shaped clump of kitty litter today. It was a soft round and sweet heart shape, too, not a stylized pointy one. It made me smile. I thought about taking a picture of it to show you, but that would have necessitated running downstairs to get my phone that was charging in the kitchen.
And I am not running or indeed charging anywhere at the moment. I am clumping around, cane in hand, carefully placing each left foot so as to not twist or turn or put any weight to speak of on my left knee.
It is what it is. Surgery is in April.
So I concentrate on what I can do which at this moment is to describe how very cute that heart clump was. It made my heart sing.
And I am okay with being so happy at seeing a shape that represents love. I think that conscious thought about love makes a difference in the universe. That’s just me.
+++++++ no transitions here+++++
I suspect that there will be very few transitions in this post. The last one may have lulled you into a false sense of security with all its transitions, but that was because basically it was told chronologically.
All I’m saying is that that is not a normal manner to my thinking.
Surely this is not a surprise to you! 😉
+++++++nope+++++++
I found three pennies the other day on my way to Cub for groceries. In three different places! And I parked close in! (see previous reference to left knee) It was a banner day.
I often find pennies on the ground. I hit them with hand sanitizer in the car before I put them in my “found pennies” jar at home. I’m on my second jar of such pennies. In Kauai I found two pennies and a quarter. And before you ask, I do put any coins found into the “found pennies” jar. There is no discrimination here; they are all part of the “found” community.
In the bedroom I have a special jar for wheat pennies. It is special day when I find a wheat penny, for it takes me right back to my childhood. Do you have anything that does that? Takes you right back to the innocence and playfulness of being under ten? It is a wonder, is it not?
Speaking of found items (yes, yes, I know. It’s a transition) I lost two items in the ocean in Kauai and both were returned to me by strangers. I know that the waves bring things to the shore, I understand the science of that. But for strangers to pick up something that is not theirs and either ask about it or turn it in gives me hope.

Most of the time I write about things that are not political, relevant, or incendiary. This is no exception.
If we can put a man on the moon, can we figure out a way for spray bottles like 409 to spray at any angle? I’m just saying. Not all areas that need to be sprayed are comfortably right in front of you so that you can hold the bottle perfectly level and upright. I understand that science is involved, but I would really like this to be a thing.
++++nope, not here either+++++
I do have two other things from the Kauai trip that I forgot to write about. One is that we never watch tv when we’re on vacation, and it really helps with the relaxation part.
The other is the comment that the hubster made that makes me laugh whenever I think about it. He was with the small group of six for his ziplining adventure: two couples, one six year old, and himself. By the way, the six year old was a girl who, as the hubster said, will grow up to be an Army Ranger. According to the guide she was head and shoulders above than most adults in her skills, courage, and mindset.
You go, girl.
Being the only spouse without a mate, the hubster was quizzed by the enthusiastic guide. “So, why isn’t your wife with us?”
“Uhhhh, this isn’t really her thing,” was his response.
A note of explanation here. Not only is ziplining not my thing, extreme sports of which I consider most of the hiking and adventures the hubster chooses to enjoy are in no way enjoyable for me. And that is why he goes on them and I don’t. Heights are scary for me. Many of the prescriptions that I’m on have dizziness as a side effect, plus I have vertigo. Just standing up can be the equivalent of a ride at Valleyfair; I’m a cheap date there.
So to say that it isn’t my thing is vastly understated.
But the guide had watched the hubster do the Superman on two of the eight ziplines. He is definitely into the adrenaline rush of speed and danger. So she was curious about how I got my adventure on, so to speak.
She pressed him again on the ride back to camp. “So, do you think your wife would like to go on our ziplining course? Wouldn’t she think it was great?!”
“Uh, no.”
“Well, what does she like to do?”
And here the hubster hesitated before he responded quietly,
“Quilting?”
Hahahahahahahahahaha. I still chuckle when I think about it.
Time to get to work. Today’s schedule has Duolingo, doll quilts, and suitcase on it. Need to practice my Spanish, make some warm blankets for my granddaughter’s dolls and stuffies, and empty out the big suitcase and say goodbye to it because the wheels don’t swivel properly. It’s a regular day.
Have a thrilling Thursday and a welcoming weekend to come. Spend some time with your ten year old self, reach out to a friend, hug yourself.
Love,
Janet
“Quilting?” ROFL!
