Yabba Dabba Doo!!!!!
And welcome to spring fellow Midwesterners! I know it is supposed to rain tonight and probably for the next couple of days, off and on, but it has become so green with the last few rains, yes and with the hail over the weekend, that I DON’T MIND!!!
My neighbor’s yard looks like a fairyland with white blossoms on every tree and bush but two, well, three if you count the pine tree in the corner. It looks a little like an outdoor wedding chapel done by Disney. I expect to see Thumper hopping up with the rings on a white satin pillow edged in trails of white lace. I can hear faint strains of “Someday My Prince Will Come” played on the organ by the three happy fairies from Sleeping Beauty, and as their feet don’t reach the pedals, Dopey is busy pumping to keep the organ playing.
It is a wondrous place, full of magic, mystery, and hope.
Kind of like marriage.
Ahahahahaha! Bet you didn’t see that coming! Well, it’s only fair to let you know that the hubster and I are celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary on Saturday, or any day we want in that general vicinity. When you get past 30, you can let go of celebrating on THE special day and go for anything that fits in the schedule. Flexibility and reality reigns.
Which, when I think about it, makes sense. It is sort of like using the DVR to watch the tv show when you want to see it.
But I will tell you this, as much as I like being able to watch the shows when I want and without commercial interruption, I do miss the days when we all watched The Wizard of Oz together. There was a common bond there —a civilized bond — as we waited through the commercials to get back to the story that we knew so well.
If you ever get the chance, google Bobby McFerrin and the Wizard of Oz. There’s a You Tube video of him doing the soundtrack for the entire movie in about five- ten minutes and he invites the audience to chime in on some parts.
And they do, with smiles and laughs and such accuracy, that I KNOW I wasn’t the only one who anxiously awaited the showing of this movie every spring.
We are so much more alike than we are different.
So, when it rains in these next few days, remember it’s getting greener and soon, soon, you’ll be out in your garden.
I know I will be. Maybe Dopey will help me dig . . .
Hugs,
Janet
I’m at your disposal.
Signed,
Dopey
