Greetings from the kitchen counter under the cooling ceiling fan.
I love it when the temp is warm but not so warm and the humidity is non existent and the caffeine level is just a light buzz without the jumpiness. Good times.
I have just been petting, rubbing, massaging the big orange cat otherwise known as the Buffmeister or Buffy the Destroyer. She appreciates a harder rub than Katya does. I barely scratch Katya.
I’m not sure about this, but I think Buffy also likes to know that she has left plenty of hair with me so I don’t miss her too much when she leaves my lap. Considerate cat that she is.
And my lap is not the only place which collects that hair; my glove looks like a five fingered orange cat paw when she leaves. It reminds me of the Halloween lion costume I made for Michael when he was about four. I covered the tops of his mittens with the gold fake fur that I also used to ring his gold hoodie and tip his tail. Well, not his tail, the tail I made for him. You know what I mean. He also had fake fur spats to wear over his winter boots, with macaroni claws I had magic markered black. It was a great costume because I knew it was warm enough as well as light colored.
Anyway, after massaging Buffy, my hand looks like it could have been part of that costume. And what I do to get rid of it is to lint roller it off. Yes, lint rollered is now a verb!
Sometimes I am too deep into my book and don’t want to get up to get the lint roller, so I just use friction and rub it off against my shorts. Then, later I can remove the furry roll from my shorts.
Well, dang. While reading my new novel, I rubbed it off on my knee brace and now I have a furry knee brace!!!!!
Not to worry- just using the brace to help my knee heal after twisting it while camping. Small matter. Still walking around the lake. Just babying the ol’ knee a bit.
Anyway, that’s why I have a furry knee brace.
And how do the porcupine quills enter into the equation? They were stuck into a mostly white with a little orange kitten who peed twice in the living room.
In my dream this morning just before I woke up.
Now I know that dreams mean things, but I’ll be hornswaggled if I can figure out this one. I don’t have a kitten like that one, never have, and don’t know why I went outside and found more porcupines in the woods after discovering the two quills sticking out of the side of this kitten. And why did the kitten pee twice in the living room?
The only reference that comes even close is that I thought some of the meteorites last night looked like arrows.
I have been enjoying watching the Perseid Showers this year.I enjoy them every year. From my backyard. One of these years I am going to remember to go camping during the August 9-14 time frame so I can see more of the show.
This year, though, I added an app to my iPad that made it more fun. It’s called Skyview and I even upped the ante to the $1.99 version! What’s cool is that you can point the IPad toward any part of the sky, ceiling, floor, or ground and see the stars, planets, constellations, satellites, and space debris that you would see if you were a SuperHero and could view through the earth.
Seriously! I could see the Hubble Telescope in the Southern Hemisphere while sitting on my porch!!!
Well, I could see an image of the Hubble Telescope showing approximately where it is.
In the Southern Hemisphere.
Under my porch and on the other side of the world.
I think that’s amazing.
The other part that is amazing is watching for the shooting stars on these mild August nights. I find that two things strike me.
No, not the meteorites.
I am referring to the wonder of seeing the mercurial streak across the sky, the arrow of light, the silent second that you catch because you happened to be looking at the right place. There are no fanfares, no hurrahs, nothing but quiet silence and awe.
And that reminds me of the second thing I am aware of while waiting for that silent second of awe. I am in the company of ancient peoples who looked at those same skies, feeling that same awe.
I am part of the collective unconscious.
There is a purity of thought, a cleanness, a clarity that I appreciate.
And, honest to goodness, I want to sew!!!!!
It’s like going to Grand Marais and visiting Buck’s Hardware; I always want to bake!!!! Well, not so much since they moved everything around last year. But it used to be such a strong feeling!!!!
Well, here’s to strong feelings, the collective unconcious, the Hubble Telescope and no humidity!
Have a Mahvelous Monday!
Love,
Janet
P.S. If you look carefully, you’ll see a few of the Wild North American Transitions in this post.JW
