Greetings Friends!
I wish I could give you all a hug. Seeing as how we are in different places, different time zones, and have different child rearing responsibilities which make some of you busy at this time of the evening, I will have to hug you with my words.
For starters, I’d like to share some word play that made me laugh out loud. I picked up two brand new crossword puzzle books from B & N today. The first is titled “Harder Wednesday Crosswords #2” and the second is “Trivial Pursuit Crosswords.” I have already finished one from the latter and found it Goldilocks.( not too hard, not too easy, just right)
I knew the Wednesday one would be good for me because I am a solid mid-week crossword solver. What does this mean? It means that with the word “harder” in the title, I had to look at the answers in the back to solve about six to eight words. If it was just plain Wednesday, I may have been able to squeeze them all out of my brain. However they figure it out, the mid-level difficulty is Goldilocks for me. Thursdays are not fun for me and they make me wrinkle my brow.
Now is the time of my life when I am over-conscious of the wrinkling of the brow or any other part of my face. Let’s just say that if I were in a play now, those age lines would not be that difficult to draw on my face, if I had to draw them at all. When I was younger I always played older parts with two exceptions and I had to not only learn how and where to put those age lines, I needed to highlight them!!! Yeah, not so much now.
So, Thursday’s crosswords are out; but then so are Tuesday’s but not for the same reason.
Tuesday’s are too easy and I get bored. And when I get bored, I think of whatever I can eat, even after losing that weight. Old habits die hard. The ol’ tapes keep on playin’.
You see my dilemma. Thursday puzzles bring wrinkles, Tuesday’s result in pounds. Delicious, chocolatey ones.
Sigh.
I’ll stick with Wednesday’s, even the harder ones.
Here are some of the clues from the TP puzzle:
When it was introduced in 1956, what was the Zenith Space Command?
Hahahaha! The remote control!! I think we should still call it that.
What did British politician Edwina Currie call ” one thing above all” that businessmen must take abroad to prevent AIDS?
Their wives!!!! 😉
First class?
Pre-K
And now onto Harder Wednesday:
Makes a jerk out of?
Cures.
Ceremony in a heretical church?
Radical rite
Apple on one’s desk?
IMac
Early Eve?
Wait for it: RIB!!!!!
And my favorite: Stop order?
Itinerary.
There were a few chuckle hugs for you.
Even though it is not a scientific document/study/proven hypothesis, the crossword can provide factual knowledge. For instance, did you know that the Atlantic is saltier than the Pacific? And just because I can, I verified this to be true.
Knowledge bomb! You’re welcome.
Now you’ve been hugged AND you have a fresh fact. All I ask is that you share both.
Perhaps not at the same time, but I’ll leave that up to you.
Love,
Janet
